I know this is probably not what you may be referring to but you can make it
so users can login to their webmail via the home page of your site or a
custom page you create instead of using the squirrelmail login page. You
just need to insert a username and password form fields in your page and us

I have to integrate the squirrel mail into my site. Does anybody knows
how can i alter the login/session functionality for Squirrel, so it will
use my own session variables to authenticate against the my own user
database? Is there any online guide for such stuff?

What imap server you are using?
Do your users have write access to their own homedirs?
