Why would it be "nice"? What is the operational issue that would be
made easier/better?
Patches welcome of course if you want to attach one to a JIRA.

nice if the location of these files could be configurable (SOLR_PID_DIR kind
of makes sense?)
Would this be worth a lower-priority bug?
