what parts doesn't work for you?
If there are bugs in the package it will be great if you can report them to
make it better.

You might try:
# dpkg -L solr-common
/.
/etc
/etc/solr
/etc/solr/web.xml
/etc/solr/conf
/etc/solr/conf/admin-extra.html
/etc/s
http://localhost:8080/solr/admin/ gives me the solr admin.
