Perhaps increasing the setConnectionTimeout() would help?
try 100 or 1000 and see if that helps

Hi again,
I didn't find any response to this issue that I had posted
earlier and so was the occurrence of the socket exception till today. It
wasn't happening and we have been doing some heavy testing of the
application and it popped back again today. The stack trace on the
