I am a new Slurm user, trying to install Slurm 18.08 on a Ubuntu Server
18.04 desktop. To start, I just want to set up a single node system.
I'm using the "Quick Start Admin Guide" on the Schedmd web site as a

Eric, I had already installed the latest version of slurm (V17.11.5). I
followed you advice and upgraded Ubuntu server to V 18.04.
s helps. It took me a lot of hours to get things working. I
still need to solve the big problem of slurm only running once and then
requiring a reinstall.

spent endless hours trying to get slurm services to start. I am running Ubuntu
Server V16.04 and slurm 17.11.5. My MB has an AMD 8 core processor. When I try
to start slurmdbd or slurmctld services I get messages say
