but %H did not get interpolated. So how to I prevent name collisions
for both hardcopy.n and screenlog.n files?

I've hobbled together the occasional macro via a script with a lot of
"stuff" commands. But if there were a simple macro-recording in screen
(like vi's 'q') it would be a super power-tool...
