it says:
"Will do alternate screen switching"
With this set the behavior is as I expect. Nice!
I set this in my .screenrc :
altscreen on
and all seems well from apple. I'll check the other machine asap but that
will be next week

Steps to reproduce:
use a .screenrc configuration that only sets the term to xterm-color
open a gnu screen session
press return 4 times so you have some lines to use for judging
enter emacs
exit emacs
