Options / Save Options
before trying
File / Open or New

Alternatively, if you have
Options / Auto-Save Options on Exit
you can exit SCID and reopen it.

Both solutions work for me. It even works when you specify an USB key.

I'm confused. I just changed the Bases Directory to C:\users\me\chessdbs . This
path contains my personal SCID databases: *.si4, *.sg4, *.sn4
