I am also a Fedora user and I never had problems with the packages
available on http://katrine.lpi.ru/kalenkov/
After downloading, move to the destination directory and then :
# yum -y install scid-4.4-1.fc18.i686.rpm scid-books-4.4-1.fc18.noarch.rpm
scid-sounds-4.4-1.fc18.noarch.rpm

Greetings,
I am new to the list. I am coming out of retirement, as I have not played
chess in about 10 years. My chessbase and related software is out of date,
so I thought I would try this. I use Linux for work, but I don't install
stuff on my workstation much.
I am running Fedora 18.

Hi Jon,
Actually I didn't maintain scid for Fedora 9 any more. Last scid RPM
package for Fedora 9 is
http://katrine.lpi.ru/kalenkov/fedora/9/i386/scid-3.6.26-2.fc9.i386.rpm
You can try to rebuild source rpm packages (located here -
http://katrine.lpi.ru/kalenkov/fedora/10/SRPMS/) for the Fedora 9
From:
http://katrine.lpi.ru/kalenkov/
But I now see that those RPMs are for Fedora 10.
Do you think that's the problem?

I've installed the RPMs on a Fedora 9 computer, but I keep getting a
segmentation fault when I try to run it.

Well, actually I start the app from a dir where writing
premissions are granted, ie. that lives within my $HOME.

Garth,

Hi,
All your remarks make sense, and yes, there are some stuff available for all
users that should be user-based. The directory structure is certainly far
from perfect. But there are some explanations :
- I personaly have no interest in that kind of stuff;
- I am busy with other parts of Scid (cu

This subject was discussed a bit recently but I'd like to ask for
input on some of these issues as they relate to OS X. In particular,
Alexander had posted some opinions about this and I think I rather
agree with him so I'm hoping he can share his thoughts on this.
