Ok, this bug is fixed now (at least 4 years old ... ). The explanation is
simple : the parameter "Always keep games with variations" was hidden
because of a simple UI bug, hence always ON : so even if those games are
strictly identical, the fact that they contain vars prevent them from
deletion.
It apparently has something to do with the comments and/or variations.
