Yes, Scidb is inserting newlines
Hmmm - it does reduce load for big pgn, but at the cost of fairly poor PGN
responsiveness.
Modern systems probably don't need this patch ?
And the 'devnull' (shoudl be 'nooutput') approach is not much of a time
saver really for the extra code imho.
