Trying to get SCID to use stockfish in Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS.
Downloaded it from the Stockfish site. I had previously tried to install
the "official version" sudo apt install stockfish. This failed as below,
so I decided to try the latest. It made no difference.
Not sure what I am doing wrong here

Downloaded scid5.1.0-src.zip from onto system running Ubuntu 24.04.1.
Extracted files from this ZIP.
Ran build_app.sh and it produced this error:

Hmm. Upon upgrading my system to Ubuntu 23.04, this problem appears to have
solved itself. Maybe they fixed GNOME. Or did a new version of SCID get
installed with the upgrade that fixed this issue?

That's pretty much a good solution except it's a little weird to have the
same move as the main line and a variation. But much better than anything
else I've tried.

I use SCID to track games I play via email with a friend. I like to save
the analysis I've done as I'm playing. When I enter the result, it always
puts at the end of the analysis, not at the point where resignation
occurred. I've been trying to copy the post-resign moves
When opening a database, default to opening the last game opened in the
database.
When opening a game, bring up the last position viewed in that game (rather
than the beginning of the game).
Both of the above optional of course.

Ok, thanks. I am at home in the terminal, which I used to prove that
pgnscid no longer existed. :-). However, I think the GUI methods for
importing pgn are more than adequate for my current needs.

I run Scid 4.7.0 on OpenBSD and on Windows 10 to try to satisfy myself
of any anomalies between the two operating systems. If I can be of any
further help please let me know. I'll do my best to respond within a
