Hello,
I've noticed an error in the Feb 2019 spellings/ratings files, regarding
the entry for GM James Tarjan. It gives his date of birth as January 1,
1963, when it should be February 22, 1952.
Thanks,
Okey

Hi,
the "Ask-to-replace" popup should burn in hell :)
I hated it with all my heart.
Imagine a text editor that creates a popup everytime you digit a char
(do you want to insert a new char or replace the old one?).
I believe also that the pgnscid script was not particularly use
there. Still, I like the interface and improvements in
4.6. It just needs some functionality tweaking before I can replace

Hi!
When you click on Options-> Toolbars, a window should open. There you
can set what items you want to show on the toolbar. It appears that in
version 4.6, it defaults to "None".
Hope that helps!

Where there is a will to make a mistake, there will be a way :) Thanks
for the tip!
I compiled successfully, and the new photo directory selection code
appears to work well.
Thanks for all the good work!

Hi Fulvio,
I applied the patch to
scid-code-ae199eb3496714b50d2cbd204492d61022b2da76. I compiled using the

Hi!
I can confirm that creating symlinks in ~/.scid for photo files located
in "random" places, works in Linux. I have not tried true symlinks on
Windows yet, to see if that would work.
I think the "Options/Load..." would be best, allowing the most
flexibility. Adding it as a feature reque
I think part of the confusion in this discussion lies in the fact that
Benoit is referring to the layout of files in the Windows version, which
is rather different from the layout of scid-related files in the Linux
version. I guess using the convention "\bin\data" rather than

Hi!
If you upgrade scid, it will want to install into a different directory
tree (which has the advantage that you can have both versions intalled,
if you wanted to compare them). So, you would either have to change the
default, so as to install into the old directory (which may cause some

Looks generally good to me too. I think specifying the files to
download would help users, too.
Thanks, Benoit!

One more place to check is to "set" the Spellcheck file. It seems that
Scid 4.6 beta does not automatically include either spelling.ssp or
ratings.ssp (the spellcheck files) in the package, so you have to
download one. The spf/spi files need either of those to work properly.
You only need one
That's too bad :-/ Well, at least he is alive!
Does anyone know what method he used to keep the file current. Not sure
what my schedule will bring, but I may volunteer to be the maintainer of
the rating.ssp and spelling.ssp files in the near future.

Hi! I guess the more important questions are "How is Franz Nagl? Is he

Hi!
I noticed a small error in the ECO browser (and likely, by extension,
the scid.eco file), not sure if it has already been noted. Basically, it
switches the identity of the Gruenfeld:Russian 6...O-O and
Gruenfeld:Russian 6...a6.

Steve, there is a good reason that Scid does not automatically
"reconcile" those names. Chess is played by lots of people, and thus
there is much room for ambiguity, in terms of people's names. Just the

If you can not use the Merida2 Piece set (or some of the others, like

Hi Steve Gaffagan, Okey Iwu here. Longest time!

Slight correction to my earlier comment. The MyPlayer "bug" will remain until

I have noticed a specific problem that has been present for a few versions.
When you change board colors, after accepting the change, and changing the

That is, "My Player" always shows up at the top of the board, mov
