Hi and Welcome!
Yes, it does. It can a) import into the current database in scid format

In the gui a) click Database - Import.

Hi,
I've been looking at the workings of the Game List window and deleted
all those columns I don't normally pay attention to. Then I saved this
layout to be able to recreate this at any time from the Full layout
option. The next time I opened Scid there was an error message so that

Hi Jerome,
I'm sure this will have been seen and doubtless suggestions for
improvement are always welcome. When and if it gets taken up depends
upon someone mustering the good will to do it. I hope you understand

Steve,
I've just noticed that the issue with losing keyboard focus appears to

Hi Carol
The error message
dpkg-query: package 'scid' is not installed
presumably means that you compiled and installed scid for yourself. Is
that right? If the package management system is not in control of the
installation it may not have it added to the list of installed files.
It seems that

Hi Carol,
No problem. If you run the dpkg command to give you a list of files
installed by the Scid package (you may have to prefix this with sudo,
cannot remember)
$ dpkg -L scid | grep bin
You should get a list something like this :
/usr/local/bin/pgnfix
/usr/local/bin/sc_eco
/usr/local/bin/s
Steve,
I've just been investigating Mike Curtis's comment about sc_import. As
you are running Ubuntu, if you are comfortable using the terminal then

Hi Steve,
The documentation tends to lag behind the coded program quite a lot.
I've volunteered myself to try to improve this. I've found that I need
to know the program much better than I do to really get to grips with
this. Lately I've been held up by ill health too. Had an operation 3
weeks ago
ported you may have to open the Game List window and
double-click another game.
Best Wishes

I just managed to make Scid unstartable by altering help.tcl but it
was OK when I undid the changes. This is the main bit of what I
tried:-
Import PGN (Pgnscid replacement)
In help.tcl delete lines 3860-3926 inclusive. Then insert the below.

Hmmm,
So I've had my first lesson. Test before you speak.
You cannot import a G-zipped pgn file. I tried this and the game count
was wrong and all moves failed to load. Hahaha, never mind. We live
and learn! I'll re-write my suggestion for pgnscid.
Thanks

Hi
It is well possible I'll get used reading tcl files so I may well be
slowly able to help a little in programming too. But we'll have to

So I intend to read, in no particular order, the entire in-built help
system and offer changes to bring it up to date.
