To complete Fulvio's answer, to add a comment before the very *first* move
of a game:
- load a game in the Main board
- go back to before the first move ***using the arrows under the Main boa

New users should beware that to prevent SCID from loading the example
database, they need to:
- go on the new Gamelist window;
- click on Show/Hide databases (the book icon);
- right-click over the example database;
- unselect "Load at startup"

i think the only way is to write the comment before the moves.
For example, typing this:
e4 -> add the move 1. e4
ctrl+a -> add a n
