It is. I'm using Scidvspc on Debian Sid, and it works just fine. I
dropped Scid in favor of Scidvspc because there are several features
that don't work properly in Scid. I submitted a patch but it has never
been included in Scid.

Scidvspc works perfectly well in any linux distro.
I use Slackware and Windows.
In Slackware is just as easy as:
./configure
./make
./make install
on the source tree, for both x86 or x64.
Differences? well, the 2 major differences:
.The docking mode doesn't work on scidvspc...
.Scidvspc supports

Hi,
I can never compile scid. I am on Ubuntu 12.10. I installed the
tcl8.5-dev and tk8.5-dev; I have X11-dev installed as well. however when I
configure scid I get

I don't want to transform this in a sort of war between me and Steven.
I don't have anything against Steven and as far as i know he don't have

There is a lot of confusion about "scid bugs & crashes" and i would like
to clarify this:
you can get a very old version of scid if
I believe the idea of merging scidvspc into scid is an excellent
idea. I'm surprised that Fulvio does not appreciate the logic behind

Scid vs PC is a much more stable, active and bugs free project.
Scid is almost dead in itself
ScidDB doesn't even exist
All of the 3 projects share code, the main reason cause Free Software
fails to progress is lack of Community Work...

In that case you are clearly seeing the two as completely separate
programs, which I must admit, I do not.
Freedom of choice is good, but it can also create confusion.
Let me tell
Hi,
I agree with Fulvio, I don't see any advantage in renaming scidvpc to
scid and deleting scid. As it is we can decide between functional
undocked scidvpc or the buggy docked scid.
My 99 cents.
Cheers

If Fulvio wants to take the lead, he should have the chance.
As far as I can see, Steven's another Pascal.

I think we're going to merge the two Scids back into one.
Scid is a little stagnant, what with no active devs , no
file releases for ages and bugs in Git. This way we'll have
one bug free source tree, and one mailing list :)
