How well does scid currently support chess960--or other variations, for
that matter? Specifically, I don't believe that scid currently supports
X-FEN, and I vaguely remember having a lot of grief trying to import PGN
games marked "fischerandom" from FICS the last time I tried it.

You have example code in sergame.tcl for example, uci.tcl is also a good
place.
