I've posted a simple page at http://pansapien.com/geekstuff/hotplug/ that
demonstrates an approach I've used on my desktop system to get
applications and the like to run automatically whenever a device is added
to my machine. Check it out and let me know what you think.

GAIM works really well for MSN and I believe there is a GAIM plugin for
ICQ as well.
