problem with XFS

Hi all, My machine's gone poorly. When I boot up in runlevel 5, everything looks fine until X starts up. I see the NVidia screen appear when the driver initialises, and then it goes away and comes back. It's as though the X setup is failing and then re-trying. This continues until I shut do
