I havn't installed X, it's a simple dsl router + firwall. On Monday I
install RedHat 7.3 or 8.0 and then it runs, hopefully

I have a problem.

A new pppd version does not help. So I can not connect to the internet.
What can I make?

Add "noauth" to /etc/ppp/options. PPPd no longer allows you to connect to
an IP for which you already have a route unless it authenticates itself.

rh6.2. This was ok in rh6.0.
I used chmod u+s pppd in rh6.0 and other users can
run pppd but in rh6.2 i did the same but only root but no users can run
pppd.
It says remote system should be authenticated.
What's the wrong ?

It sounds like you can leave mgetty alone.
You should compile and install a fresh ppp-2.2.0
