Hi Sean,
I have repeated the process and the problem still remained same.
My config file also consists CONFIG_BINFMT_ELF=y as you said.
Is my process of compiling kernel correct? Or is there any change in
RH9?

Hi all,
I have upgraded my kernel to 2.4.20-20.9 via up2date with no problem
in RH 9. In this new kernel, I wanted to enable a cyclades card in
kernel for which I complied this kernel as below:-
- make menuconfig
- enabled Cyclades card in the menu
- make dep; make clean
- make bzImage
- make m

Hi,
I have compiled the kernel 2.2.16 kernel using kgcc successfully. I am
using

1) Not getting into Windows is a good thing.. why use it when you have
Linux?:)
2) lilo will start DOS (which will then load Windows)... I

I'm using redhat 6.2 ...
sometimes I have no luck.getting unresolved symbols and don't

Brian,
That nothing to worry about, you could even live with it, but since it's
not nice:
there is a file /etc/conf.modules, which is used by modprobe on startup to
look for modules that should be loaded give information to them ...
I'm not sure when it is generated, at some point definitly becaus
Hello

Jun 3 19:00:59 tomcat modprobe: can't locate module net-pf-4
Jun 3 19:01:06 tomcat modprobe: can't locate module ppp0
how can I fix this, what setting in my kernel config need to be set?

The directory make zImage puts the file is /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot
and I copied it to /boot. I saved the original lilo.conf as lilo.old and
adjusted the lilo.conf to call the zImage instead of

These unresolved sybols are of the modules that you didn't compile in the
kernel. Just remove them.

You forgot to move the older /lib/modules/2.0.xx out of the way before
you did a make modules_install.
Do this then go back to /usr/src/linux and do another
make modules_install.

Hello I am kind of new to compiling new kernels and I am having a problem.
I got the four kernel rpm's and installed them with a -i option
I then did the following
make xconfig
make dep
make clean
make zImage
make modules
make modules_install
cd /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot
cp zImage /boot/vmlin

I have been trying to recompile the kernel, using the source that comes with
RedHat 5 (i.e. 2.0.32). I have applied the fat32 patch which I obtained
from:
http://bmrc.berkeley.edu/people/chaffee/fat32.html
after doing:
make mrproper
make kernelconfig
make dep; make clean
make zImage
I get the

I'm having a problem while trying to compile my kernel, I have a RH

-Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -fno-strength-reduce
-pipe -m486 -malign-loops=2 -malign-jumps=2 -mali
