You'll probably want to set up LDAP for name lookups to replace NIS, and
Kerberos for authentication.
LDAP, as a directory service, does not actively "aut

the same single point authentication that the collection of Linux based

I have read +/-'s about both LDAP and Kerberos authentication, and I am
wondering which has better real world application benefits for this
particular situation.

I've taken over a new RH71 box and I'm working with kerberos for the first

How does one disable programs from trying to authenticate using Kerberos? Just
about everything on my system tries to authenticate using kerberos and I don't
use it... kinda aggravating, if ya ask me. :-) Probably my fault for enabling
something somewhere... :-)
I've got a RedHat 6.2 machine here... I'm trying to figure
out what config options I have to turn off to disable
attempting to use Kerberos authentication? It's causing
some aggravation here during testing of some software...
Thanks.

Hi all, I'm setting up kerberos on a bunch of RedHat 6.2 servers ,and one
RedHat 7 client.
Following the /usr/share/doc/krb* documentation I got the Kerberos server
up and running, and can kinit and grab tickets via a client on another
machine:
$ klist
Ticket cache: FILE:/tmp/krb5c
I am trying to compile php3 with redhat 6.2 and I get an error similar to
the following:
undefined symbol: gss_mech_krb5
Will I break anything in the imap package if I comment out the section
dealing with kerberos as I am not running kerberos or is there a better way
to fix this?

Got a question,
Does anyone have a good resource or know of a good resource on setting

do you shut it off when doing an rlogin? I have some systems to setup
