Squid errors OOPS more info

Hi I have a problem with my squid server. The other day I flushed the cache and then it stoped. I get an error message to the effect that I do not have access to /var/spool/squid to rebuild the cache "Permission denied" I have checked the permissions and the user/group is Squid ownership 770. I
