I am attempting to use fetchmail, to collect mail on my RH8 machine, from an
internal machine that does not have a public IP address.
My RH box is refusing the mail because sendmail can not verify the domain -
unsurprising, as the domain name does not really exist.
Is there anyway to tell sendmai

Hi all!
I need a reference to a good (basic introduction) to sendmail configuration.
I've got 8.12.5 on RH8. Unfortuantely, Linuxconf is no good any more so I'm
back to having to learn sendmail.cf (or is that sendmail.mc)...

I have successfully installed Redhat AS2.1 on two
machines, however, I would like to use the
preinstalled version of Sendmail on one of the
machines to receive outside email. I read over some of
the forums out there and learned that Redhat's 7.1+
version of sendmail is pre-configured to inly listen

I am having a problem with inbound SMTP
connections. First of all, I am running a brand new install of Redhat 7.2
and I have made sure that sendmail is running.

Please do not post in HTML.
A stock RedHat install has sendmail configured to only listen on 127
I should have mentioned that I have checked that. I turned off all rules. When I issue
/etc/rc.d/init.d/ipchains status
all three lines show ACCEPT.
Any other ideas?

Go to /etc/mail and look at sendmail.mc. Check out the verbage at the
bottom and make sure you have commented out the line restricting sendmail
to only listening to localhost. Then rerun the macro per instruction at
the top of the file.

Hi.
I am *hoping* that someone here can help me with this problem.
I am running a dedicated server running Linux 6.2.
The problem I am having is related to sendmail.
I am having a problem with an error "Remote host said: 554 buildaddr: no
host" when another system tries to send a bounced email

hello,
How can I setup sendmail on my RH7 machine to forward
all outbound mail to another machine as a relay (one
that use DNS,...)?.
I had read in faqs that you can setup sendmail to
not use DNS (ServiceSwitchFile = /etc/nsswitch.conf
for example, which contain "hosts files, wins, dns").
