yes, pretty much this has been my experience. If it doesn't work right, reboot an few times, wait a while, reboot a few times. Sometimes removing all networking (rebooting) reinstalling all networking (finding that damn CD and rebooting) gets it working - but that's pretty much aiting and rebootin
