Don't know about routers doing it, but if your using iptables I believe it
does but that is for kernel 2.4 and above.
http://netfilter.samba.org is where to look if this is for you.

Even CiscoWorks 2000 use SYSLOG to receive and reed messages, traps and

I can talk with the Cisco Ing, about that, because CiscoWorks 2000 is using my
HP-UX Syslog to get alerts and traps.
