Did you install Red Hat 7.2 fresh on this machine? If so, XFree86 4 was installed, and the configuration file you're using is /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. You really don't need 32 bpp color depth. 24 bpp will give you 16 million colors which should be fine for most applications. The only thing I see

Have you checked the mode lines in your /etc/X11/XF86Config or /etc/X11/XF86Config-4? In the "Screen" section (near the bottom), you should see stanzas like this: Subsection "Display" Depth 8 Modes "640x480" "800x600" "1024x768" "1280x1024" ViewPort0 0
