I had this problem.
In your config.inc.php3 file, go to the "$config["imap_port"]" line, and
change the value from "143" to "143/notls".

I solved this. The problem was that PHP doesn't have TLS in and IMAP was
trying to use it. On the port setting I added "/notls" and boom ! it
worked !
