Did you try the sound mixer, to adjust the microphone settings?

I've got a soundblaster card and RH7.2 that plays sound fine but I
cannot get it to record any input sound on the microphone input. Anyone
have any ideas about why that might be (assuming the hardware is
working)? I've verified the input is good and the card is new.
