I am facing typical problem. I have a compaq machine with Compaq
Monitor 7500. This is p4 machine. When we login either root or user, The
console font is not behaving properly. It gives some space after shell
prompt. This works fine in gnom. Unless and untill you set font for root
or user

I've seen this on two different machines - the KDE Panel gets stuck in
some kind of weird
state where it takes 5 seconds for any mouse click to take effect.
Logging out and back in
fixes the problem for a while.
