Hi,
I am having a problem with GNOME. I find that after logging in, if I lock the screen
and don't work on the computer for a while, I automatically get logged out and come
back to the login screen. I did not face this problem with 7.1. Is there some
configuration that I need to do for

as per the redhat list, this is caused by a previous helix install.
check your /usr/lib/libzvt.so.2, what it points at. after my helix
install some time ago, i had the 2.2.10 shared lib sitting around, the
symlink wasn't getting upgraded even with the forced rpm reinstall of
latest gnome-libs.
Problem fixed:
I got some help from the Gnome list and was told to delete "~/ICEauthority" and

I tried your solution, I did find some old files and deleted as you said, but
darn it that didn't fix the problem. This problem is unique to root and no
other user (I only have 1) KDE as root works fine. So I assume it is
something with gnome root. Any other ideas? This has happened before an
Two. First, to prevent core dumps, put ulimit -c 10 in your
/etc/profile. This will limit the size of core dumps to whatever
number you specify, e.g. 10
Second, Gnome (on my machine) leaves old files (I think they are lock

I have had the same problem with GNOME. On my server at work I have a console that
has been "locked up" for three weeks, because I can't reboot it. I have literally
killed everything I can think of to end the session... but to no avail...

Hi, so this is probably just a testiment of what not to do on your
server...
I wanted to run GNOME (actually X Windows) to be able to use the
process monitor with the dual cpu information. Anyhow, I started
startx and GNOME started and loaded and displayed my desktop and just
sits there, nothing.
