Orphan

I was told my private network is considered an orphan with my ISP as the SMART_HOST, therefore, sendmail is not capable of allowing me to keep my domain email within my system . . . hence the term orphan? How can I take control of my domains email without using outside intervention

link checker that can also detect orphan pages?
