Hi all.
I tried to install RedHat 7.2 in a Pentium IV 1.8 Ghz with Adaptec Hardware
RAID 2110s controler and three SCSI disks using RAID 5. After rebooting I
got a kernel panic when it was mounting file systems:

I have downloaded and burned the 5 RedHat CD images. I have created a 10

install the boot manager on a floppy, as you say. Could you

That's not right - one of the first things it does is give you the option to
do a media check.
Has done so on both PCs I've installed.
Check again.

Hello Bill -- Thank you for your reply!
I have tried the `console' append line and only get kernel messages on
the screen, and no install-based stuff. This has always been the case
when I have used the `console' line before. Is this the normal behavior
for `console'?
Thank You,

I posted a message to this affect late yesterday, and am reposting now

I am attempting to install Redhat 6.1 via a serial port, using text

Yes, most definitely. RHL 6.1 comes with the LILO boot manager and the

However, don't forget that you will need a separate disk partition for RHL

Can Redhat 6.1 be installed on an existing win98 system and duel boot

The RH5 cd is indeed bootable. I've done several installs that
way. I would assume the cause of the problem is the cdrom drive. SBCD
drives have strange problems like that.

Hi,
I am trying to install RedHat Linux directly from CDROM.
I have set the bios to boot CDROM, C, A in that order. While

from CDROM it fails giving the following message,

My problem starts with me trying to do this from the CD as a mounted FTP
dir. NT does not like the linux/unix names and will not read them off the
CD. basically it just puts in _ for the . and crops off the ending extension.
So much for my quick way of doing this. I th

Hello,
It might be that your NT ftp server is causing this. I've had problems
before with an ftp server running on windows that would truncate the .rpm
of off the file names. That ftp server didn't like having more than one
