I'm running RH8. I have IPX running on eth0. I issued the command:
ncpmount -S servername -U username /Novell
and when I attempt to execute the ls command in the newly mounted
directory, I get a "Stale NFS file handle" error. Any ideas?
Thanks,

i don't think that is supported.
But it can be implemented ... we can use the dest socket field to denote which application on the destination node is to receive the packet. So a certain value for example 0x0499 can be used for IP in IPX ... it should be left to the other end to remove th
Hi,
Is it possible to tunnel IP traffic trough IPX?
Other way round is ok. But I have a requirement,
for tunneling IP over IPX.
Can some one help me out

Hi,
I have a old ipx RAD router, which is connected to
another place via 4 wire 64 kbps leased line (We use
IPX protocol).
We use Novell Netware Servers mainly & win9x,winnt &
linux .
I want to use the same router ( old which supports
well for IPX ) . I want to know how do I tunnel
a NIC into promiscuous mode
and started up tethereal. Sure enough, the printer is there babbling
away to the net - but it's speaking IPX, asking for the nearest server.
Looking through the IPX section of the _Linux Network Administrator's

Hi and thanks,
I have done ipx_configure and I do see the correct network address but
slist still gives me an error.
error is 0x8847 in ncp_open, server not found. The novel version is
4.1 not 5 as I originally stated.

Hi, Yep I am sure it is running IPX I get the correct network address
with ipx_network. Also I use windows 98 with IPX to access it
with no problems. It is not using TCP/IP .
Thanks,
Rob

Are you absolutely sure that you've got the Novell server running IPX.
With version 5, Novell was working on migrating from IPX/SPX to TCP/IP

Hi,
I have a network with a novel netware server running version 5. I
simply cannot find the server with slist.
I have done all the correct things:
ipx_interface add -p eth0 802.2
when I check the IPX network address it is correct.
However when I do an slist :

o.k, I know this is not an IPX support list, but frankly, I didnt know if
there would be one. I have one question if anyone can help. I have ipxutils
and ncpfs loaded in my kernal. I'm using RH 6.2, I know that in 6.2 with

At the outset - forgive me if this isn't the right list for this problem
- it looked like the best choice.
I have a problem at one of our elementary schools where I need to route
both tcpip and ipx traffic from an ethernet network in a lab to the
buildings token ring network. The tcpip tr
I need to connect one remote system through a leased line to our net (on a
rh6.1).
I know how to do it for TCP/IP but the point is I need IPX too on that link.
Is there anything special to be configured ?
(ethernets are configured for IPX)

Hello all,
After recently upgrading to 6.2, my ipxutils and ncpfs no longer
work. The errors I get from them are the following:
[root@plum speakmon] /sbin/ipx_configure --auto_primary=on
--auto_interface==on
/sbin/ipx_configure: socket: Invalid argument
Naturally, if this doesn't work, neither
Hey all,
The IPX setup with linuxconfig is kind of broken. The IPX net number is
not remembered. Unfortunately the auto detect settings will not work
because of some kind of weird thing happening between the windows and
netware machines on the network. I have not been able to find where to

You need to take a look at the Netware Emulator MARS_NWE. The Win95 PCs
will need to have a Netware Client installed (either MS or Novell).
Alternatively you may be able to use SAMBA to export resource as Windows
Shares. I don't actually know if it is possible to run SAMBA over IPX.

Several weeks ago I tried to get IPX working between a couple of RedHat
boxes, and never had any luck. My /proc stuff and my kernel
configuration all looked right, but I never could get two Linux boxes to
talk over IPX (they did TCP/IP just fine). Now I'm trying again.
I think that part

The next chapter in my IPX tirade. . .
Looking at the IPX HOWTO, in the section on mars_nwe, right after it
describes the nwserv.conf file, it says that "if you've configured the
server to expect external programs to configure your network and/or
provide routing. . . "
Huh? The
This is an addendum to my last post, "gory details about my IPX".
I didn't include the mars-nwe log file. Here it is for one of the

After sending my last post ("IPX still no-go"), I thought maybe I hadn't

Okay, now I really do have a question about this.
