I recently published a howto on installing and configuring IBMs Java
stack on my website
http://www.geocities.com/kane121975/RH9IBMJAVAHOWTO.pdf
It is avalable now if anyone is interested, I know it is titled for RH9
but it can also be used for RH 8, I have not tried it on 7.3 or below.

Hi,
Just thought it might be interesting for the group to know that IBM has
made the GA release of Java 1.1.8 for Linux available.
http://www.ibm.com/java/jdk/other/portingplans.html
It's available for download (after registration) and is provided both in
.tgz and .rpm file formats.
http://ww
FWIW I usually start at www.ibm.com and drill into downloads from there to
get the stuff. The search is not bad either. alphaworks.ibm.com has all
the news on the java beans and other java stuff developed by IBM. With
1500 java developers working (not sure where I read that number) IBM is
churn
Good news, Rob. Thanks.
IBM's Java ports have always been considered as high class, high
performance.
These news means that I will keep on using the IBM port. 1.3 this
spring. Great.
I've saved the link to the availability plans. (Though they normally
restructure their Web site way too often.)

If I understand your question, the answer is no, they're
not. Instead they're jumping to 1.3, which is said to become
available this quarter
