Right now I have 1 LAN, with
172.16.1.0/255.255.255.0. with installed dhcp server in RHL 8.0.
Now, because the need of separate LAN (will be use
for acc dept) I want to add another LAN that will be
172.16.2.0/255.255.255.0.
Now, I confuse how to setup the dhcp server. Is it

I have two subnets 10.10.2.0 and 10.10.3.0
Linux Server on 10.10.2.0 and it's configured that I can ping other subnet
computers and vice-versa.
Router is done by Win 4.0 computer with IP forwarding.
How can I configure this Linux server to be a DHCP server, if all my DHCP

Hi
I am trying to configure a DHCP server under RedHat 7.3 to use the
dhcp-client-identifier to assign a fixed IP address to a client. Rather than use the
clients' MAC address as the identifier I want to use an integer. This means that the
clients' IP address is not tied to the MAC
Hi *,
I want to introduce a RedHat 7.2 i386 PC to a
network with a DHCP-Server (DSL-Router).
Will the following work?
Edit /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 as
follows:
DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
ONBOOT=yes
Set the hostname and restart:
hostname mypc
reboot

Can someone double check me? I'm not sure why this isn't working. I'm
setting up a Linux DHCP server using dhcpd (version 2.0). All the clients will
be windows 98 machines. In Windows, I've selected the "obtain IP address
automatically" radio button.

Look on the RedHat CD. Look for the dhcpd rpm. I don't have a 6.0 CD
handy to tell you the exact package name, but it will be
dhcpd-.i386.rpm if you are using an

as long as you can get to the other networks, then yes it can. i did it
using 9 subnets. man dhcpd.conf. you can setup the individual subnets
and what ranges you want with that file.

Does anyone know if one Linux box can be a DHCP server for 3 physical
private networks, each with their own nic? By this I mean, serve 192.168.1.x
addresess to clients on eth1, 192.168.2.x addresses to clients on eth2 and
192.168.3.x addresses to clients on eth3?
The idea is that the Linux
ich is
also the gateway for the hosts it servers. It
offers addresses in the range 240 - 247.
