Yes. I could not get it to work. Rsync on cygwin is flakey and unreliable.

not exactly, but beware of valid filenames undex ext2 that are not
valid under fat/ntfs, e.g., if you're using maildir format as I am

Well, I'm a bone-head. Turns out to be much simpler than I was making it.
I wanted the X server running on my system, but the window manager et. al.
to be running from the remote machine.
I simply started X on my local machine under cygwin, connected to the remote
machine via ssh, and exe

I've been reading man pages, FAQs, and everything I can think of under

figure this out off and on for months. However, I can not figure out how

Hi
I have been running Cygwin successfully on my RH7.1 box for a long time.
Recently I upgraded the 7.1 box to 7.2. Although Cygwin can get a login
prompt I cannot get it to run Gnome. I can run Gnome on an NCD300 terminal
and xwin32 trial version both work real well. What am I doing wrong with

Hi all,
I've got a laptop running WinME (not by choice) from which I access my
desktop using either VNC or XWin-32.
Both of these are configured to use XDMCP to bring up a KDM logon session.
I've now installed the latest Cygwin and XFree86 but I cannot get it to
connect. If I

Yes, you need to have an X server running on the Windows box. XFree86
has been ported to Cygwin and Exceed has an X server also. There may
be a couple of other X servers for Windows, but those are the ones
that I have had the most success with.
