We just installed 3 compaq 850R servers with linux, and they have worked
well. The scsi controllers in them were detected by linux, but they were
not the array controllers. The only problem we had was the built in NIC's,
they were not supported by linux so we put in 3com NIC's.

I've got three Compaq servers that we use primarily for storage and file
transfer. I have two Prosignia 500's and a Proliant 800. All of them
have Compaq SMART-2 array controllers. They are currently running
