Greetings,
You could use pam_ldap.so in the nss_ldap RPM
(from www.padl.com) and /usr/sbin/authconfig to
enhance PAM on your RHL server (both included in
your RH Linux distro). Using this PAM lib, gives
any IMAP/POP3 server that uses PAM the ability to
authenticate using LDAP and/or your /
This there a imap package out there that will allow you to authenticate
against LDAP or a NT domain controller ?
Thanks

Yes but have you modified the /etc/ldap.conf and other files related to that,
the RedHat docs on the RH site will help, you may want to take a look at this
before you do the ldap authentication method.

This issue has been discussed at length on the samba main, pam, and
openldap mailiing lists. you might want to check those list archives for
a full solution.

while installing rh 7.3 i have tried to authenticate the users via md5
passwd, shadow and ldap. (You can change this with authconfig as root).
Regardless if the ldap-server is running or not, nobody can log into the
system, not even root ;-| .
