There were dark mutterings about being sent to a black hole! I
did try it, of course, but it didn't work anyway.
So do I need a separate mail proxy program? If so, what do people
recommend? And are they secure, vis-a-vis spam relaying?
I'd be grateful for any thoughts,

no effect on KDE. I can't find a KDE option for it anywhere. Does anyone
know how to turn off KDE sounds, please?

You are right -- the upgrade left me with a mishmash of some old and
some new XF86. I removed/updated all the XF86 components, unlinked

Hi!
it is not a good idea to use telnet, use secure shell
instead.
there is secure shell for windows like teraform, secure
crt, etc. look at tucows.com for this program.

Hi!
To check what services are running/on...
chkconfig --list
you would see the services, system levels and if it is
on or off.
To turn off, say portmap at system level 3...
chkconfig --level 3 portmap off
For more info, type this...
chkconfig

Hi!
why not instead of using telnet, why not you use secure
shell(ssh). It is better than telnet and a good
replacement.
