password failure

Hi! I've setting up a dial-up connection PAP, using redhat 6.2, but theres an errror message (/var/log/messages) "password failure".double checked the passwd but its ok. i try using windows98 and it works pretty well unfortunately not in linux :) it seems that password wont work on linux (weird!
