trouble since the alsa-driver wouldnt work although it
compiled well.And the benefit of this upgrade is not

certain things.
The enable scsi emulation must be set to m in /IDE/ATA
section. Then in scsi section I had to enable SCSI and
SCSI generic support. And all places where u find
ATAPI mus be disable
e set
CONFIG_BLOCK_DEV_IDESCSI=m
in ATA/IDE section. I also have enabled scsi and all
the drivers and boxes in SCSI SECTION is set to m.Also
SCSI OLD DRIVERS is set to m.
So I realy dont know what I have missed.

I think I found a place in config that was not
checked, and that was CONFIG_DEV_IDESCSI= not in use
This was checked to m , and I now try to compile with
that option.

Its long time since I used ipchains. I now use
iptables. But I think to block that irc port it goes
about like this.

There is a bug in rh 7.0 regarding cd -rw.
Edit rc.sysinit with pico and search for the string modprobe ide-scsi..
Place that line under the fi statement.
IMPORTANT make a copy of the file before editing it. It controls the whole system.
In fstab write
/dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,user,rw
