I set up samba on my linux box, and when using smbclient on this box it
works fine .
However, when I try to map the share via Windows XP , I get "The user is not
authorized" , although I use the correct name and password ( same as I use
with smbclient and that works fine ) .

I read the network config tips , but I get something very strange on my
redhat 5.0 (2.0.32 kernel) .
When I install the driver for my network and use netcfg to add the
IP-address to the eth0 , the networking works fine .
However, when I then reboot , the system hangs when starting sendmail .
