My first guess would be to check your power supply. It may be too small for your system or delivering insufficient amps to carry the load.

Yes, but it is easier to use a couple of workstation class systems running DC services under Windows than it is to do this with Samba. There is a HOWTO on the Samba web site that documents this procedure.
