It is doubtful that any tweak will work much fo ryou. What the problem is
is very simple. You need to either change your NIC card or make sure the
driver is correct and uptodate. I have had problems with linux and
broadband connections becuase of the wrong NIC cards. I would highly

You need to turn on auto power management on linux and then make sure it is
activated in your computer bios, if it has it. If your computer doesn't
support APM it will not shut off when linux shuts down.
