I need to correct myself. Windowmaker is there in 8.0, but no other light window
managers (FVWM2, XFCE, IceWM, Blackbox, Fluxbox) are available.

I do hope all these problems will be solved in the next release. I'm willing to give
8.1 a try when it comes out - I just hope they don't remove all the Email clients and
web browsers from that ver

very elegant, but it works (assuming that DOS will boot from your hard
disk).
Good luck,

If you're looking to recover a file you've already deleted, I can't help
you. But if you're looking to solve the problem in the future, you
should consider installing libtrash. It gives Linux a real "trash can"
that works in Gnome, KDE, the console, and everywhere else.

Dear Greg,
Of course you should type "man chmod" before proceeding much further.
That said, a fe
one person
mentioned the problem but no one had an answer. Surely this is a major
issue - how is one to use a dial-up modem? The way I'm doing it now is
with the "neat" utility, which requires one to use the root password.
This is not good. I'd appreciate any advice.

I'll put in a plug for XFCE - just as fast as fvwm but really
easy to configure. XFCE is not installed by default, but the
RPM is on the Powertools CD, or else download it.
Create file .xinitrc with the line "startxfce" to make it your
default desktop.

I've found that Kmail doesn't work well in either FVWM2 or XFCE, so
you might want to consider using Sylpheed instead.

It is, of course, necessary to first log out and
then log back in before the change takes effect.

only way I can get XFCE to start is from the
command line by typing "startxfce" - which is OK,
but not elegant.
