I'm a newbie, but my laptop defaulted to 320x200 because it couldn't detect
the video ram. Have you checked that in you XF86Config file? Also, check out

slightly different Sony laptop (PCG-SR7K) and I was able to get mine working
based on info from that site. I glanced at it and it does list F series
laptops.
