I've noticed that when I run netstat, I've got a number of established
connections open to a DNS server. I hate having all those connections
open. Is there a way to clear those connections?

The manual is also one of the best that I've seen. It explains
things very well.
As for LILO, you do need to install it somewhere else. For the life
of me, though, I can' remember what it's called. :( I know it's the
second option when you are presented with a choice.
