You need the ipfwadm command after every boot. I have added it to
/etc/rc.d/rc.l

speed for bogomips. Pentium 2 machines seem to report a bogomips rating
almost equal to the CPU speed. AMD K6 machines seem to behave like the
MMX. Anyway, bogomips are fake, only used as a timing loop...

I had a really nice working system until circumstances forced me to fix that
which ain't broke: Installing win95 didn't recognize the CD-ROM attached to

I did an strace -f on something that was giving me a problem
and I noticed it looking for ncureses libs, so I did a reinstall
of ncurses and that did it. I don't understand why
I am running Redhat 5.0 and have an HP 4L printer. I configured it
with the print console in X for 1 page, fix stair casing, 300x300
resolution, HP 4 printer.
When I print the postscript test page on the menu it is about 1/4" up
on the page. All other postscript printing is like that too. How

success with compiling a VERY small executable (xmodemlights) I decide to try
something more complex. I went to www.afterstep.org and downloaded AfterStep
version 1.4.5.0 to my /downloads directory. It was a .tgz file.

I ran into a similar situation when configuring my SB-compatible card. I
found out the problem was related to resource settings (i.e. IRQ, DMA,IO).
I booted to dos and ran a diagnostic utility that came with the card and
recorded the settings and to insure those were correct.

If it's any consolation, I can confirm the symptom. Although diald would kick
in correctly on the gateway machine, and although the rest my workstations
could then correctly access internet through the gateway machine, diald would
not kick in if it was the workstation trying to get out.

I know 2 people who are running 266 Celeron chips at 400/100 without any
problems under win95/NT. The lack of L2 cache makes these chips extremely
friendly to over clocking. If your not going to overclock the Celeron
it's not worth the $ since the lack of L2 cache makes them weak performers.

The 3C905B-TX has a different chipset on it than the 3C905-TX
does, consequently making 4.2 and 5.0's drivers both incompatible. I
haven't tried 5.1 yet, so I have no idea if it has the new driver or not.
Anyhow, you can still get the card working by getting Donald Becker's
newest 3c59x.c
