I find adjusting the current filter from `brightness(0.8)` to `brightness(0.9)
contrast(1.1)` is a big improvement. It slightly reduces the overall light

I'm in favor of subtly applying option 2 (Darken the maps). When the dark
theme originally went live the map dimming filter was significant and
definitely felt hard to read, but since then the dimming has been reduced and I
find it not too bad currently. It still does feel a bit dull and low c

The current title of this issue seems to suggest the the new vector layers can
be migrated to MapLibre GL JS independently while keeping Leaflet around for
the raster layers. I imagine using two entirely separate map display
